Provide high-quality AutoCAD drawings for smooth work
Wishbone wanted to interpret and re-engineer a few instrument designs in order to achieve their quality standards on the components. Our involvement included designing Orthopedic surgical components, detailing and adding part attributes to the components for quick identification using CAD application.
What we anticipated along the journey
Being a global pediatric orthopedic solution provider company, they were experiencing in-service failures of their pediatric instruments and struggling to define the root cause. The product testing showed design flaws and the client wanted to implement the design changes without causing any adverse impact onto the product. In light of these challenges, Wishbone sought out assistance from someone familiar with the medical device industry. And, they needed someone with the expertise to dedicate specifically to the project from start to finish.
Finding solutions with the future in mind
Our CAD experts combined their decade of experience to identify the fundamental cause of challenges our client was facing by performing the CAE analysis. After the analysis result, our team suggested to re-engineer a few instrument designs in order to achieve the quality standards on the client’s pediatric instruments.
Our involvement included designing Orthopedic surgical components, detailing and adding part attributes to the components for quick identification using CAD software application. We incorporated ISO 9001 for the general standard for quality management, and ISO 13485 for the quality management system specifically designed for medical device manufacturers.
We provided output models and drawings in PDFs; maintained Design History Files (DHF’s) as per the client company’s procedures in order to ensure that DHF’s are accurate, complete & well organized. Our designers created parametric models using standard design practices and maintained Precisions, Tolerances, GD&T symbols and standards on the drawings. Our CAD team provided a delivery sheet to the client team which contained all the quality check points for executing design projects. We also determined if the product meets the definition of a medical device per Section 201(h) of the Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act.
Empowering the client to make informed decisions for their business
The client was able to witness many benefits to its business operations:
Reduction in safety and legal risks while creating more economical work environments
Safely produced medical device.
Led to increased device sales
Optimal development and support cost with increased productivity and continuous improvements
Reduce operational costs by highlighting process deficiencies and improving efficiency
