Calibrating for Compliance: Critical Assets, Strict Regulations, Paper Workflows
Serum Institute of India manages GMP and GEP critical assets where every calibration must stand up to FDA, EMA, and other regulatory scrutiny. With calibration readings captured on paper across Engineering, QA, and Production, the team needed a faster, traceable, audit-ready way to run engineering and calibration work in the field.
- Paper-based calibration entries slowed result calculations and increased the risk of manual errors.
- Regulatory bodies required robust system validation, data traceability, and audit readiness.
- Technicians needed calibration forms, masters, and environment conditions available at the point of work.
- Workflow approvals and reviews were delayed without real-time visibility into assignments.
A Mobile Calibration Foundation Built for Regulated Environments
Sedin implemented EAM360, its native mobile application for IBM Maximo, to automate and digitize Serum Institute of India's maintenance and calibration operations with a role-based, compliance-ready mobile experience.
Sedin deployed the EAM360 Technician app on top of Maximo Life Sciences and Maximo Calibration, displaying the right calibration forms in context so technicians could record readings, environment conditions, and masters directly on their devices.
Role-based assignments and real-time mobile notifications put engineering and calibration tasks in front of the right people, enabling quicker reviews and approvals.
Digitizing calibration entries gave Serum Institute of India instant result calculations, a traceable record of every reading, and a single platform to manage multiple calibration use cases.
STEP
01
Mapped engineering and calibration roles
Defined role-based assignments for engineering and calibration activities across GMP and GEP critical assets.
02
Configured Maximo for calibration
Aligned IBM Maximo Life Sciences 7.6 and Maximo Calibration 7.6.0.0 with the client's calibration assets, instruments, and masters.
03
Deployed the EAM360 Technician app
Rolled out the mobile app across Engineering, QA, and Production to give technicians access to work assignments, inspections, and calibration tasks in the field.
04
Built contextual calibration forms
Enabled technicians to record As-Found and As-Left readings, environment conditions, masters, failure codes, and photo or video logs on mobile.
05
Enabled mobile workflow notifications
Set up real-time notifications for workflow assignments to speed up reviews and approvals.
06
Digitized calibration operations
Replaced paper-based entries with mobile data capture and automatic result calculation for faster, traceable calibration.
We’ve implemented IBM Maximo & EAM360 to automate, digitize maintenance ops across Engineering, QA & Production by partnering with Sedin’s Maximo team. We streamlined operations, managed assets, performed offline inspections & calibration.
