Managing millions of energy devices in real time
Two scalable applications and real-time grid monitoring across a distributed energy fleet.
Millions of inverters, batteries, EV chargers, and portable units were coming online faster than the client's systems could update or monitor them.

Managing millions of devices without losing control.
The client had built one of the world's most advanced distributed energy ecosystems, but rapid growth exposed operational gaps.
Firmware updates across millions of units were slow, manual, and risky, and operational teams lacked real-time visibility into installations, faults, and performance.
Our brief:
- Enable secure firmware updates at global scale
- Provide real-time visibility into device and grid performance
- Create a centralized platform for monitoring, diagnostics, and operational control
Common questions
Firmware management and real-time monitoring were equally urgent but distinct problems. Rather than forcing everything into a single system, we built a purpose-driven application for each, so neither bottleneck compromised the other.
Teams could select firmware versions, schedule deployments, and control rollout timing, with React dashboards giving live visibility into success rates and failures — so large fleets were updated without risking wide-scale disruption.
Real-time visibility and remote diagnostics brought fault resolution to under two hours, down from the days it previously took to surface issues buried in raw logs and XML files.
Even when the data existed, it was locked inside raw system logs and XML files — so teams couldn't answer basic questions about which devices were installed, faulted, or underperforming. We turned that raw data into live, human-readable insight.
A focused build around two operational bottlenecks.
STEP
01
Assessment
Mapped the two critical gaps and confirmed each needed a dedicated build, not incremental fixes.
02
Firmware & fleet application
Remote fleet-wide updates with version control, scheduled rollouts, and live deployment dashboards.
03
Grid & device monitoring
One interface for thousands of devices with fault detection, installation tracking, and XML turned into insight.
Faster updates, smarter control, and global visibility.
95%
Dynamic system configuration
Teams can remotely adjust system behavior to grid and weather conditions.
100%
Country-level compliance
Regulatory requirements are met consistently across regions.
<2 hrs
Fault resolution
Real-time visibility and remote diagnostics let teams identify and resolve issues in hours.
The bottom line
Teams now roll out firmware across millions of devices with confidence, and the platform is ready to scale with a growing ecosystem of solar, storage, and EV devices.
