Opentext Documentum Case Study: Leader of Turbo Technologies automates 98% efforts, with 0% error rate using a Digital Document Management Solution

Business Requirement: 

The client needed to capture and extract information. They needed a solution that automates document-intensive business processes and helps more quickly and efficiently manage vast amounts of incoming information.

Another need was an intuitive UI that can be used to access and interact with content stored in a Documentum Server, control their own, personalized view of the information and tasks that pertain to them to see exactly what they need to get their job done. And the solution needed to work on any internet browser and automatically adjust to the screen size being used.

Involvement

We involved our Documentum D2 team to provide the best browser-based UI which offers a configuration tool and rules engine that governs the policies and behaviors of content in OpenText™ Documentum™  as well as the interaction between the content and users. Automated document control ensures compliance with content governance policies, while powerful configuration capabilities eliminate the need for custom code.

Also, our Documentum Captiva capture team combined the power of intelligent enterprise capture with process management, OpenText Captiva helps to automate document-intensive business processes from start to finish.

The Client:

The client is the market leader in turbo technologies of the world and across all vehicle classes and engine types. Tightening and converging fuel efficiency and emissions standards will see continued adoption of engine boosting systems, driven by its technology leadership, extensive product portfolio, investment in engineering innovation, and deep relationships with OEMs. The Documentum Captiva capture and D2 solution is provided for their Trade compliance unit as it is the best suited solution for client digitization and intuitive UI needs.

Challenges Faced:

The client wanted a report generation mechanism for the missing documents per bill where the application needs to search all the cases and generate the list of all missing documents information in a structured excel format. Plus, they wanted another report for a summary of all the bills existing in the database as per the defined rules. Another requirement involved was providing access to all client vendors to post documents directly into the database seamlessly.

Our Approach:

As Documentum is packed with its own Java libraries, any customization can be accommodated with minimal coding efforts and can be triggered from any Documentum UI tools with a click. With the power of Documentum and Java, our team is able to provide best in class reports for the client to understand data in the first sight of the report.

OpenText Captiva supports ad hoc capture by enabling knowledge workers and end-users the ability to self-serve by scanning and capturing documents as they are received. This eliminates the delays and expense of physically shipping and delivering the document to a centralized scanning facility for further business processing.
